When do I go to the doctor about my migraines?
I’ve been getting these migraines at least once a week for a few months now. Suddenly, a particular spot on my head will start burning and then a migraine kicks in. I’m not sure if I should just continue with my over-the-counter migraine relief medication, or if this is something more serious and if I should consult my doctor. Any ideas?

Hello—-Oh my goodness I am so sorry for what you are going threw. First off let me first tell you STOP taking the over counter medicines and get to a doctor. What they will need to do is set you up with a Neurologist. In that mean time your family doctor will give you a medicine to help you with the pain, but stop taking the over counter medicine. When you get to the Neurologist , 1rst thing is setting up a Cat Scan, that will show everything inside/out of brain, and etc. etc.
If everything is showing fine…..your neurologist will put you on Migraine medicine. The two Best migraine medicines are Topamax and Depakote. However, Topamax decreases weight gain, Depakote increases weight gain. I personally have been on both medicines and Depakote I have to give more praise to for keeping migraines away. But they are rated as they top 2 best migraine medicines.
I have suffered with severe migraines ever since I suffered with a head injury in 2006.
I hope this information helps.
Get an appointment as soon as you can.Migraines can be awful as only those of us who have them can understand.Doctors can now help much more than could 20 years ago, so definitely get an appointment ASAP.
It depends on how the pain is affecting your living. Some people continue to take over the counter medications and do just fine, but others have such a unique pain that they cannot concentrate and generally live. There are very good migraine prescription medications that may help you, but thats your choice. Seeing the doctor isnt going to hurt, if anything it will help you understand your head pain more.
is the migraine stuff working. if not ask your doctor to give you a MRI. it takes a picture of your brain so they can see if its or normal migraine or worse. some really bad diseases start out as just a migraine.
