What are some good ways to overcome my anxiety attacks?

They started a while ago, and for no reason. At random times every few days or so I’ll freak out over nothing. I worry a lot, and that makes them worse. I experience nausea, dizziness, shaking, and I get really emotional. I know it’s all in my head though.
Any way I can calm myself down, and experience these panic/ anxiety attacks less frequently?
They are getting worse

    First off, talk to your doctor about it. Don’t be too embarassed to ask for help. I know a couple of people who have them and i’ve experienced them for a brief time. The important thing is to not give in to them; don’t avoid the things you normally do (unless it’s severe). My doc gave me a prescription and you know what, just having it helped. I never took the pills because I looked at them and decided I was stronger than that, and they went away. I’m not trying to say that people don’t need meds, just that thinking about taking them helped me to focus and overcome it. Don’t ever be ashamed about needing a prescription. Hope you get the help you need.

    Here is one good way I know of

    Take a deep, deep breath through your nose. Deep and slow and release it slowly

    Once more – another deep, deep breath – in through your nose – count up to 8 -

    Sit up straight so you can fill your lungs all the way to the bottom – and very slowly, very gently – out through your lips and count to 8…

    Close your eyes, relax your muscles and allow the tension to leave your body.

    One more deep breath through your nose and blow out slowly and gently through your lips. And relax your muscles all over every muscle just relax .

    I would also recommend seeing a doctor if you keep getting them.

    Well, your symptoms sound fairly severe and you may need medication after seeing a therapist. But, maybe you can try a few tricks first. If you are stressed out at night about what you have to do the next day, make a list. That should ease your mind about whether or not you will remember and/or have time. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried meditation, but it can be quite relaxing. There are tons of inexpensive books and dvds that can guide you on how to meditate. If you get nervous about social encounters, try to make them quick and to the point… but often. If you avoid people, you will make it more difficult to get back into a social routine. Try to make a point to converse with others, but end the conversation immediately after making your point. That way you won’t have the worry in the back of your head about what they think about you. And yes, the end result should be that you don’t worry what others think about you… but that’s much easier to say than to do. Now, if you worry about dying, then I would suggest doing something every day that scares you. Now, I’m not talking Russian Roulette type of scary… stick to non-lethal personal dares. Try eating a new type of food or changing your hairstyle. Hope at least one of these can help you out.
