I’m a lifelong migraine sufferer, so I’ll take a stab at it:

"Just a headache." Right. And childbirth is just a body ache.

The lights are out and the shades are pulled but my eyes still hurt. I’d really like some quiet, but for that my heart would have to stop. I really don’t want to move, but the nausea may drag me to the toilet against my will. I have a breathing technique that usually keeps that at bay.

The guy who illegally gave me the fentanyl lollipop said that cancer patients use these to, as he put it, "smash down the pain", but for me it’s like all the others–it kind of takes the edge off. I have to remember to breathe, too.

The really good stuff is what scares my cardiologist, because it sends my blood pressure through the roof. It also gives me chest pains makes my arm ache where the injection goes in, and makes me freezing cold, but it almost always turns these things off like a switch. I need that four or five times a week. Grade school would have been a lot easier if this stuff had been around.

But for some reason it didn’t work this time. Nor did the preventives, those things I take every day that make my weight do funny things, make my toes tingle, make me forget simple things like your name, and make me feel like I’m on Benadryl all day every day. Nor did the chiropractor, the acupuncture or the biofeedback.

I’m glad this only happens a couple times a year. It’s going to be a rough couple of days.

always start with a question or interesting statement.

Since not everyone has had a migraine, you will need to get the audience to buy in. How? Well, they know someone who has had one.

So ask everyone to describe a cherry. What does it taste like? The experience is subjective. It is different things to different people. so what is a headache? What is a migraine? Why should you care.

Because according to some medical statistics, 24 million people in US suffer.

It from here.

Hope this helps…

Best wishes.
