Has anyone ever had a phobia of medication?

I have panic disorder that has made me agoraphobic (afraid to leave my own home), and a few months ago my doctor gave me some Klonopin. I had a really bad experience on it–it was like a panic attack, but worse, and it lasted for hours. The experience left me scarred, and since then I’ve developed a phobia of all medication–even over-the-counter stuff like Advil. I always think back to that time on Klonopin and imagine every medication will do that to me. Sometimes I psych myself out so much by reading about all the side effects, that I think I imagine getting all the symptoms listed.

A few weeks ago, I was given Xanax, since I’m still agoraphobic. I broke a pill in half and took that, because I was too scared to take the whole dose. I did fine on it, besides some general nervousness. But even though my experience was alright, I still get nervous trying to take it again. I haven’t been able to since.

I know this is all in my head, but has anyone else had this phobia, and can you offer any advice on how you got over it? I need to take my medication, but this phobia has been sabotaging my treatment.

the thing is i keep looking at genitals if it was a mans or womans , some time i cant even chat with a friend ! ! or anyone with out looking ….. this making me crazy !! , anyone can help me with this … any treatment i can use ,or any hypnosis treatment ?
the thing is i cant keep my eyes up ! ! when i make eye contact with any one Automatic my eyes goes down ! ! and i start to get nervous and lots of thoughts start to come up like " he or she" knows am looking at there organ .

i really love pets like dogs and cats, but whenever i bought one, she’s angry at me, because she don’t like to see it, she’s kinda afraid of them. so is there a treatment for this kind of phobia? thanks.

I have been diagnosed with social phobia and unfortunately had to quit treatment. That was several years ago and now I feel as if I get anxious over more and more things. I don’t go anywhere alone anymore, I don’t drive, I have no friends,etc…I am so depressed. I have an appointment that recently got pushed back to December….Is it normal or common to have panic attacks or severe anxiety in more situations if your anxiety is untreated?

i have a choice of taking a strong skin treatment, but that mean 3 blood tests in 6 months, and i am awful with needles, i know it doesn’t hurt, and look away etc, but the phobia is still there :/

I have come to a conclusion that i’m going to have to lose my fears of spiders.
It’s gradually getting worse everyday..
Even an image of a spider on the screen and i jump out of my seat.

The feeling is horrible.

I’m from the UK.

Can i go to the doctors and tell them i have a phobia of spiders?

I’d feel abit stupid doing so but i’m wondering if i could be reffered to somebody by a doctor.

ALSO, will the NHS be able to pay for this treatment?

Dental phobia related to gagging – can anyone help, please?

I have dental appointment on Monday – 8.35 a.m., which means my already over-sensitive gag reflex will be at its absolute worst. It’ll be my first appointment in two years – I find the gagging so difficult to cope with that I only go to the dentist when something has got so bad that I just can’t cope with it using self help measures.

If anyone out there has any tips at all on techniques for coping with this then I will be eternally grateful to hear from you!

One thing in particular I read the other day on a dental phobia forum was about controlling gagging by keeping your ankles raised throughout the treatment – sounded a bit odd but by heck, if it works….?! Anyone heard of or had any experience of this?

Not healthy, I know, and I’m not proud of myself for being like this!!! So please, no judgemental or funny-ha-ha answers, serious ones only – thanks, folks!
